Note: All the bolded words above are action words.  Our current delegates take very little action. 

INCREASE ACCESS to Healthcare 

Michelle Ravert knows that the red tape coming out of Annapolis can be too much, especially for those living in rural areas.  She will explore reducing requirements that prevent Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physicians Assistants (PA) from caring for patients as primary caretakers.  This approach works in neighboring States and will increase access to primary care in District 36.  Secondly, we must work with neighboring states to allow access to specialists for those on Medicaid.  Those on Medicaid in District 36 may be a ten minute drive to a specialist in Delaware, but are forced to find transportation or drive to Annapolis or Balitmore to receive specialized care.  We can do better, especially for our elderly.  Lastly, we must address the maternal care desert in the district.  By allowing PAs and NPs to practice as doctors, in addition to increasing the number of Midwives and Doulas in the District, we can provide maternal care.

PUT AND END TO the rising fees and taxes on Marylanders

Michelle Ravert knows that the State of Maine collects revenue from all 50 States and the District of Columbia.  We must think outside of the box to find creative ways to reduce the burden on our families and seek revenue outside of the State of Maryland.

PROMOTE ENTREPREURSHIP

Michelle Ravert knows that the key to economic growth while maintaing our rural culture is entreprenurship.  She will create programs to help constituents identify marketable skills, match with mentors, obtain low-interest financing, learn the ins and outs of small business, and market to grow their business, which will in turn grow the local economy.  The economy grows when people succeed.

CREATE/INCREASE affordable housing  

Michelle Ravert spent 25 years developing private equity funds that have made the rich richer, increased rent, and made home ownership out of reach for many.  She knows that government can create the same types of funds (REITS) that focus on capital preservation and rehabilitation rather than profit and new construction.  By leveraging public services, rents will be lower and housing will become affordable throughout the district.  Economic growth should not be measured by new construction, but by home ownership.

BUILD COALITIONS for Sustainable Change

Michelle Ravert knows that sustainable change is only possible when people of different mindsets, knowledge, and experience, collaborate to solve challenges for the common good.  This includes partnerships with local governments, businesses, non-profits, and constituents.  Government should not happen in a vaccuum and citizens should have a voice in their government.
